The beautiful local showers which,
have been falling for the past several
* days have been very helpful to gardens,
peas, potatoes and turnips.
We had the pleasure last Saturday '
of meeting "Uncle John Kyzer," of
the Huffman Burnt Mill section. He
Is looking well for one of his age.
Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Howard, of
Swansea, visited the former's parents
, on big Black Creek, Sunduy before
last.
-v, Mr. and Mrq. A. L,. Kirkland and
daughter, Miss uottle Mae, were guests
last Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. M. R.
Crout.
Mr. M. A. Taylor, from near Boiling

H. A. and Mrs. Howard visited' Mrs.
Susie Taylor and children, last Sunday
after preaching at filing Springs.
Mrs. Altle Risli, of near Fellon, is
ill ut her father's, Mr. D.t J. Taylor,
near here. We hope for her a complete
* recovery.
Last Sunday it was our sad privilege
to attend the funeral of our
friend,llr. James Frye, near Sdmund.
The widow and children have our
heartfelt sympathy.
The singing school at Boiling
Springs came to a close last Sunday
evening. Mr. Editor, ^If you ever
have an occasion to pass through the
vicinity of Boiling Springs and hear
anything roaring like a lion don't get
scared for it will only be Uncle Tom
singing bass. t
The Fourth Quarterly Conference
of the Gilbert circuit will be held at
Boiling Springs M. E. church next
Friday, 16th. Every steward is expected
to be present with well filled
pocket books. There will be dinner
on the grounds (table you know).
Everybody invited to come and bring
well tilled backets (as Uncle Tom and
myselt expect to be present). A hint
to the Editor ought to be sullicient.

The health of the community is
very good at present. Coton is still
opening and farmers are very busy
along now gathering the staple and
rushing it to market.
The regular preaching ser\1ce at
Surdis Sunday morning was enjoyed'
by a large congregation. A most interesting
sermon was presented by
.the pastor. Ilev J. it. McKiitrick.
All-, and .Mrs. Harvey Spires spent
Saturday night with their parents.
