r.:-.' - - BATESBURG NEWS. , ' j Batesburg, Aug. 16.?Mrs. Lizzie Bates died at the home of her sister, Mrs. L. H. Wright, in this town on August 10th, after a lingering illness of several months. She was born Nov. 7, 1863. -and lived in this section all her life. She was the daughter of the late Cant. A. D. Bates and Georgia Mitchell Bates and in early life joined the Methodist church and was faithful to her church vows until death. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Annie B. Tarrant and Mrs. H. T. Wright and three brothers, J. M. Bates, W. C. Bates and C. B. Bates all of Batesburg. The funeral services were conducted by her pas-, tor. Rev. A. L. Gunter, in the pres-j, ence of a large crowd of sorrowing friends.and relatives. The interment was in the family burial ground near her horned The Sunday school picnic given by the Hulon Sunday school, four miles south of Batesburg last Saturday was well attended and the occasion greatly enjoyed. Wright and little son, Leon, left last Thursday for Burnsville, a small village in the mountains of North Carolina, to spend the remainder of August with her sister. Mrs.'C. B. Sutton. Mrs. Mattie C. Kneece returned last Wednesday front a visit to friends at Newberry. Messrs. Paul Garber and Wilbur H.
