MR. FRICK REPLIES
TO DR. CROSSON
Mr. Editor:?Please allow me space i
in the columns of The Dispatch-News
to say a few words in reply to Dr.
Crosson's reply to the resolution
passed by the Farmer's union of Lexington
county, in regard to the appointment
of the board of county
commissioners. The doctor said that
if the author of the resolution or the
union would have informed them- |
'selves as to who was appointed they |
would not have given voice to such a
resolution. Now, the only difference
- ? * _ t-w? Pr^cenn's statement and
i see in xvi. '-iv??the
editor's statement is that Mr.
James M. Barr lives in the country
and has no other business but farming,
and the editor acknowledged that
he was in error.
Now doctor, is it not a fact that
Messrs. Witt, B .H .Barre and Hiller
live in town and are not subject to
; road duty? Then do you think it
right to have them to superintend the
working of the roads, when there are
- plenty of farmers who can do the
'work? Do you think the towns would
allow men from the country to superintendent
the working of their
streets? The doctor said the delega*
tlon
reduced taxes and would have
reduced them more if it would not
"have been for the debt that they did
not make. I ask if the unbusiness or
country farmer put the county in
i debt? Now. doctor, as I see it, we
unbusiness country farmers only need
one more thing, and that is some one
to teach us business. The politicians
tell us how to vote, the county auditor
tells us what our taxes are, the
farm demonstration agent has been
teaching us how to produce more until
we have produced more than we
can sell at cost of production.
Then doctor, I want you to get the
delegation to appropriate enough to
employ some of the business town
farmers to teach jus business, and
then we will all be in better condition.
We can market our produce in
a business way, and that will give us
more tnoneji: and when the farmers
^h'ave money all others have money.
And when we all have plenty money
then we can have good schools,
churches, homes and roads. And
s
when we get this, and the country
farmers are giv,en an equal part in
+ y y
the management of the affairs of the
government we will not have so much
trouble in keeping the boys on the
^ farm. *
I voted for the resolution and see
nothing from Dr. Crosson's reply to
cause me to change my opinion.
Now, doctor, come over and we will
talk the whole matter over.
