ERMO SCHOOL DISTRICT
VOTES EXTRA LEVY.
Irmo school district No. 45 of Lexington
county reported to the State
Superintendent of Education Monday
on their tax election to raise the local
school levy from four mills to eight
mills. The vote stood 23 to 10 in
favor of the tax.
The assessed valuation of the property
of the districts approximated
$90,000.00. The enrollment in the
white school is 93 pupils under 3
teachers. The patrons are anxious to
run seven months and held this special
election to qualify under the
Equalizing Law.
In commenting on the situation,
Superintendent Swearingen says that
this is the first report of a tax election
coming to his desk since January
1, 1921. Between 700 and 800 districts
voted last year just as Irmo
has voted in order to secure the benefits
of the Equalizing Law and to obtain
the seven months' term.
To carry out the provisions of this
law the State Superintendent is asking
the General Assembly for an appropriation
of $695,000.00.
TRESPASS NOTICE.
All persons are hereby warned not
to trespass on my home place or my
place known as the old Henry Shull
place, either by hunting, hauling wood
or straw or in any other manner
whatsoever. The law will be enforced
against any and all persons violating
his notice.
