WATERINGFORD NEWS.
How many of those new year vows
have you already broken?
Sligh & Walker certainly need to
be complimented on the reduction of
the price of The Dispatch-News. If
every one having anything to sell
would put it back to pre-war prices
as they have their paper, that would
do more for the laboring class than
anything that has been suggested.
Our merchants tell us everything is
/ coming down," but it's so tarnation
slow that we can't tell it. Why don't
everything hit the bottom like King
Cotton did? That's the way Sligh & j
Walker do business. Thank you, j
gentlemen.
On last Wednesday night Mr. Will
Hallman had the misfortune to lose
his barn and stables by lire, togetner
with all his rough feed, wagon, two
head of cattle, farming implements,
some cotton and perhaps other stuff, j
Fortunately his mule was saved, also j
his corn was saved as it had not been
gathered. Mr. Hallman was not at
home when the fire was first discovered
by Mrs. Hallman. Just how it originated,
or what his entire loss is we
are not able to say.Mr.
and Mrs. Simon Taylor made a
business trip to the Boiling Springs
section last Saturday.
Mr. Dan Price was chasing preach- |
er money last Saturday. Hope he was j
successful.
