last Tuesday morning Mr. Albert
Bontwright was culled to the bedside
of bis wife, who was taken very ill
last Monday afternoon about 4 o'clock.
She was spending several days
in Columbia with her aunt and cousin
on account off her health. Mr. Boatwright
stayed until his wife could

Also we were saddened this morning
to learn of the death of Mrs.
Clarence Willis, who was in the L#eesville
hospital. She had been very ill
for several weeks. She was a devoted
Christian woman, being a member
of Steed man Baptist church. She was
a kind and loving wife and mother.,
She leaves to mourn her departure a
husband and five small children, the
oldest child being a crippled little
fellow unable to walk, also an aged
father, Walter Quuttlebaum. and
brothers and sisters as follows; A. B.
and Thomas R. Quuttlebaum of Steedman,
Paul Quattlebaum of Columbia,
Mrs. Ed Gunter and Mrs. Boyd Hall,
St^edinan; Mrs. Melton Kneece of At-,
lantn, Gn., Mrs. Mittie Huffman, Columbia
and Mrs. Henry Matthews of
Ijeesvllle and numbers of friends. She
was loved by all who knew her. Our
I deepest sympathies go to the grieved
husband and children, but all we
must do is prepare to meet her, for
we all must answer the same call. We
do not know how soon it may be, so

Camp Jackson and Clemson Cadets
to Have Big Part in Program for .
Week. I
With the South Carolina state fair j
hut four weeks away there is a busy |
air around the fair grounds and the i
offices ,of the heads of the fair society.

falls much of the work is already
a busy man?he has been for some
time. During the coming week a
number of plans will bo matured. f
Camp Jackson which is a prominent
part of South Carolina now will have
a big: part in the fair this year as in
the past years since the cantonment
was established. The woman's building
will be utilized by the camp this
year and the woman's exhibits will
be placed in the big steel building.
Definite details for the soldiers' program
will be outlined early this week.
Several features including the possibility
ot a football game on the "big
Wednesday" between Camps Jackson
and'Bragg are being considered.

grounds.
