SAYS SOTEH DIVISION
BROKE HINDENBURG
(Columbia Record).
0'-. General Pershing gives the Thirti
eth Division credit for the breaking
of the Ilindenburg Line. In a letter
??. to j&ajor ueneari j^awam -ax.
commander of the division, dated February
19, 1919, he praised the division
' 'K
most highly for their splendid fighting
record and stated that it was a
p; record, of which "we all are proud." j
fi The letter was made public Monday |
by officers of the division in Columbia:
Major General Edward M. Lewis,
Commanding 30th Division, A. E. F.
My dear General Lewis:
It gives me much pleasure to extend
to you and the officers and men of
the 30th Division my sincere compliments
upon their appearance at the
review and inspection on the 21st of
January, southwest of Teille, which
"was excellent and is just what would
I be expected-in a command with such
a splendid fighting record,
jjr After its preliminary training the
. division entered the line on July 16th,
rjg where it remained almost continuousIly
until the end of October. In that
*
time it was in the actual battle from
t* the 30th of August and took part in
! the Lpres-Lys and both the Hindenburg
and the Le Catelet-Nauroy lines,
capturing Betticourt and Nauroy, an
operation on which all subsequent action
of the Fourth British Army de- "
v ' pended. . From October 7th to October
20th, the division advanced 23
kilometers in a continued series of
attacks, capturing 2,352 of the enemy.

Lewie Hall, jeweler, Main St., says:
"Kidney trouble bothered me in the
worst way some years ago. Often I
had to stay away from my business, I
was so bad off. Dizzy spells bothered
me and my sight was affected. My
back ached all the time, and it was
hard to bend over. The kidney secretions
passed too often and broke
my sleep at night. I felt tired out all
the time, and at times the kidney secretions
were highly colored and contained
sediment. I tried different
remedies, without getting relief, until
I used Doan's Kidney Pills. It
wasn't long before Doan's cured me of
all the trouble, and I haven't been
bothered since."
