Bdiior The Dispatch-News;
- Last eight I dreamed that the ferries
ajcross Saluda River.had been dis\
continued and abandoned and there
was iK- way to get to Lexington except
tc detour by Columbia. Then I
saw Sim Teller in a Curtiss plane coming
ove: to serve jury summonses and
W ;ii i^eDt xn anotner to assetss uui
property, and last, but not least, Bob
Leaphart *n another to collect taxes.
"Phis sight so astonished me that I
ixwoke anc found it only a dream. I
lay there and thought about the poor
.moans we have to get to our county
jseat and T pondered if it would ever
come to this.
Our people are not hard to please,

times.
We are cut off over here In a little
strip of -country that is as thrifty and
progressive and happy as any other
portion of Lexington county, except
we have no convenient way of gettig
to our county seat.
We are made to feel that Lexington
no longer wants us, owing to the kind
of treatment we get; and it seems to
- us that the balance of the county
are perfectly unconcerned, as all
knew that we afe within the eight
male-limit and therefore cannot very

well help ourselves.

are themselves free to go and come
at their pleasure; but this is denied
us from the very nature of-our present
circumstances. Often we should like
to go to our county seat on business
and sometimes on pleasure, but we
cannot. Often the ferry service is
out of commission, and when it can be
used it is unsafe and unsatisfactory.
Taxation without something in return
for it is unjust. We pay our
taxes and we feel that we should have
something for it. We have.only the
poorest roads, and not to give us a
hririp-o looks verv much like fellow
ship on the other side of Saluda is not
desired.
I have noticed for quite a time when
the people of Lexington Court House
town and neighborhood desire any,
thing they usually get it. The voters
of Lexington county usually give the
residents of the Jlown of Lexington
their full share of the offices, and it
stands to reason that we should look
to them wlN|n we wish anything done.
Now, we ask our Court House
friends'to get busy and help us over

Most laxatives and cathartics afford
only temporary relief and should be
used only for that purpose. When
you want permanent relief take
Chamberlain's Tablets and be careful
to observe the directions with each
package. These tablets not only
move the bowels, but improve the appetite
and strengthen the digestion.
