Johnston, of St, George-, and E. Wallace Evans, of Bennettsville, will * represent the South Carolina Cotton Growers' As sociation at the national conference of commodity co-operative associa tions to be held in Washington, De cember 14, 15 and 16. All three are members of the board of directors of the South Carolina association. The, conference at Washington has been called for the purpose of form ing a national organization of the forming a national "anization of the commodity marketi: - associations Judge Robert W. Bingham, of Louis ville, Ky., representing the I tobacco associations, will be chairman of the meeting and Carl Williams of Okla homa, representing the cotton assocai tion, will be the vice chairman. Representatives of the 160,000 cot ton growers belonging to co-opera tive marketing associations will at tend the conference. Delegates from five big tobacco growers' organiza tions that handle the sale of some two thirds of the entire crop will speak for the 200,000 members of those or ,ganizations. Representatives from something like 15 dtates wheat grow ers' organizations will be in atten dance. Dairy producers' oifgah.iza tions fronv the Atlantic to the Pacific, orange growers from the west to the east, vegetable and melon growers' organizations from every district in the country, the producers of Califor nia dried fruits, the co-operative poul trymen and members of numerous other co-operative associations will be represented. More than '$1,000,000,000. worth Qf fat-m products, it is estim& ted, will be marketed by cooperative associations this year. Among these products are cotton, tobacco, alfalfa, wheat, pea nuts, milk, eggs, fruits, maple, sugar, raisins, prunes, rice, tomatoes, live stock and many others. The South Carolina delegates will be able to report tremendous growth of the co-operative marketing idea in this state. The South Carolina Cotton Growers' Co-operative association is making its debut this season in a man ner that is said to be very gratifying to its entire membership and to the badnkers and business men of the State. The Tfri-State Tobacco Grow ers' association comprising the tobac co growers of North andl South Caro lina and Virginia, made its dlebut this year- and the morale of its membership is said to lbe 10 Oper cent. The South Carolina Cotton Gorwv ers' Co-operative association was for mnally or-ganized1 June 16, with a mem ber-ship of a pproxi mately 9,000. Over 2,000 mtembers have been added since that time, giving it a membership to day of over 11 ,000. Many of these members have been added since thle opening of the cotton season and were securedl as result of vera' genearl sat isfaction with the operations of the assoiat ion.
