Miss Janie Wilson spent Sunday in Sumter, with relatives. - Mrs. Brinkley of Georgetown, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Hanks. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Bomar motored to Columbia, Thursday. Mr. J. G. Dinkins spent the week end in Charleston. Mr. Wade Weatherford spent Mon day in Sumter, on business. Miss Harrelson spent the week-end at her home in Charleston. Miss Butler of Sumter spent last Sunday with Mrs. W. M. Brockinton. Mrs. Sue Harvin of Salters, is visit ing at the home of Judge Wilson. J. G. Dinkins, Esq., spent Saturday in Charleston on business. The county convention meets in Manning next Monday, May first. Hon. Charlton DuRant was a busi ness visitor to Washington last week. Mr. Taylor Stukes left Monday morning to spend a few (lays in Char leston on business. Misses Mattie Horton and Virginia Coffey spent last Sunday in Colum bia. Mrs. Martin Weil and Misses De borah and Jane Weil of New York, are visiting Mrs. Leon Weinberg. Capt. and Mrs. W. C. Davis spent the week-end in Florence, with Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Hlaynesworth. Mrs. Sue Harvin of Salters spent the week-end in Manning with rela tives. Bishopville and Summerton school teams played ball at Summerton Sat urday losing 14 to 2. A severe hail storm struck in the St. Paul and Summerton sections last Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Graham Moses of Sumter, visited her parents, Mdr. and Mrs. S. Iseman in Manning this week. The star mail route from Sumter started last Sunday morning, thus giving Manning the Columbia papers and other northern mail on Sunday morning instead of Monday morning. On next Wednesday the Dickson Drug Store will inaugurate their regu lar Spring One Cent Sale. Read their adv. on another page. It is interest ing. The Banner Tobacco Warehouse of Sumter, has an adv. on another page in this issue, announcing that they will be open as usual for the sale of tobacco by auction. They will open their house on August 8th. Mrs. Lein Weinberg entertained with a fish supper at Martins Lake last Wednesday night in honor of her guests, Mrs. Weil and the Misses Weil. Mrs. W. E. Reardon, Mrs. J. A. Weinberg, Miss Corinne Barfield and Mrs. T. M. - Mouzon spent Thursday and Friday in Columbia attending the meeting of the Federation of Wo man's Clubs. Monday morning a Ford belonging to a Mr. Hodge become unruly and got away from its driver and (lashed through the front of Wells' barber shop, breaking the plate glass to pieces. No one was hurt. Three white men riding in a car Monday night ran into a wagon at the foot of- Boyce Street, and we are told, that March Severance colored, who was driving the wagon was con siderably bruised up. Manning and Bishopville school teams played ball here last Friday. Bishopville winning 4 to 2. The fea ture of the game was pitching of Pete Williams who struck out 21 of the visitors, but lost the game on er rors.
