Mr. Horace Thomas has returned home from Youngsville, N. C. Dr. J. H. Hawkins of Hartsville spent Sunday in Manning. Miss Grace Nimmer has resigned her position in the post office. Each membei played a piano solo excppt our new member Sarah Jenkins; one duet was rendered by Mary Jones and Aliet Harvin. Mary Jones and J'uanita Wells read two pieces of poetry and Jennie Alderman a selection of prose. We then organized a club which we namned Alcolu Music Club, we voted for our officers -and elected the following: President, Jennie Alderman; Secre tary, Juanita Wells; Treasurer, Mary Jones; Chairman of Membership Com mittee, Edith Collins; Mrs. Harley our teacher, assigned the duties of each officer who promised to serve faithfully. BASEBALL AT SUMMERTON Greeleyville High School ran wild in the sixth inning Wednesday after noon and defeated Summerton 14 to 2, making a total of ten runs in the big inning, when it took the whole Summerton team and most of her reserves to retire the side. Greely ville produced a well-balanced team and sprang a decided surprise here. Davis, Tidall and Vimmer showed best baseball for Summerton, while the Greelyville boys all played well. Summerton High School defeated Kingstree Friday afternoon by the score of 10 to 5. The game was featured by the pitching of Brails ford, the hitting and base running of Briggs and a double play unassisted by Burgess of Summerton, while the hitting of Hines and p catch by Blake ly were the Kingstree features. The following gentlemen will speak: Senator Niels Christensen, R. C. Horne, Jr., Secretary of the Livestock Association, Mr. W. A. Campbell, I President of the Association and L. { L. Barrett, Manager. This association is organized under the South Carolina Co-operative Mar keting Act of 1921 of the State of South Carolina. Under this Act the 2 South Carolina Livestock Association is enabled to borrow money from the i War Finance Corporation, which they t will in turn loan to livestock growers i for agricultural purposes, including - the breeding, growing, fattening and marketing of livestock. L The Association will loan money to its members and it is planned that they will loan them as much as 75 per cent of the value of their live stock in some cases. The Association will also market co-operatively the livestock of its E members and will not only llelp them to get the highest price for their livestock, but will assist them to raise the grade of their stock, and loan them money to hold on to their live stock until a better market is avail able.
