Mr. Clarence Iseman is in Marion, on a hunting trip. Mrs. J. J. Moore and children left Sunday night to visit relatives -in Georgia. Mr. R. B. Bradham of Paxville, was a business visitor here on Tuesday. Mrs. T. M. Mouzon will be hostess to the bridge club this afternoon. Mrs. Blinkley of Georgetown, is visiting her sister, Mrs. G. K. Hanks. Miss Rose Ervin will entertain the bridge club Thursday evening. I Miss Essye McArthur will leave Thursday night for her home in Meridian, Miss. Messrs. C. H. Felder and Malcolum Scarborough of Summerton, spent Monday in Manning on business. Mrs. H. I. Ellerbe and children have returned home from several weeks visit in Charleston, with relatives. Mrs. Chovine Sprott, Jr., left Tues day for Cameron, where she will visit her parents. Mr. Frank Barron spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Manning with his brother, Mr. S. W. Barron. Married last Sunday, Mr. William Fowler Evans and Miss Cornelia Har rington, both of Workman. Mrs. B. T. McAlpin has returned to ,her home in Spartanburg, after a visit with Mrs. H. J. Bomar. Mrs. Ben Scarborough of Darling ton, is visiting her sister, Mrs. B. A. Johnson. Mrs. S. S. Richardson and children have returned fron a visit to Winns boro. Mr. Julian Weinberg is having the old building on his lot opposite Alder man's Store torn down. Mr. O. E. Daniels of LeRoy, Ohio, is the guest of his neice, Mrs. R. E. Broadway. Mrs. J. J. Martin and children of Paxville, was the week-end guest of Dr. and Mrs. R. E. Broadway. Mrs. William Burg and daughter Edna and Mr. Hyman Love spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ness. Dr. and Mrs. Cole and children of Kingstree, 'spent Sunday here with friends. Mr. Horace Thomas left here last j week for Youngsville, N. C., where he will open up a large live stock stable. Mr. V. S. Evans, formerly of Work man, has moved his family into the house formerly occhpied by Dr. J. A. Cole. Mr. 'T. F. Coffey, of the firm of Coffey & Rigby, is opening a live stock stable in Hickory, N. C. He left for that place on Tuesday. Mcsdlames Rosa Weinberg, Leon Weinbei'g, Miss Irma Weinberg and Mr. 1B. A. Married on January 6th by Judge of Probate -Windham, Mr. Martin Cleveland Mathis of Wedgefield and Miss Alice Lorenia Lowder of Pine wood. NEWS FROM CLEMSON COLLEGE (By E. D. Plowden, Correspondent) Clemson College, S. C., Jan. 10. The Clemson cadets returned from the Christmas holidays last Tuesday in fine spirits and ready to begin the New Year right. Practically all tbe old students returned and several new ones came in, bringing the total enrollment well over a thousand. Work is now rapidly progressing in the new gymnasium, which is soon to be completed. It is hoped that the building will be ready for the open ing of the basketball season on Jan uary 14th. Company football practice has be gun in earnest and the members of each of the company teams seu.i anx ious to win the championship of their respective battalions. Track practice is now in full swing and there is no doubt that Clemson's track team will show up as well or even better than the famous tigers who made Clemson's track seison of last year such'a notable one. Plans are now being worked out for the building of a new Methodist Church here sometime in the near future. The building is to cost about $60,000.00. President Rriggs informed us that there will have to be a sum of $150, 000.00 raised in order for the college to carry on its work this year.
