Miss Edna Mayes of Mayesville, is visiting Mrs. McKoy Shaw. 1 Miss Mattie Mammil of Augusta, is visiting Mrs. Rigby for a while. Miss Ruth Dixon spent the week end in Alcolu visiting friends. Mr. James Burgess is ill at the home of Mr. Leslie Bagnal. M s. George Williams will be the hostess of the Bridge Club on Wed nesday. Mr. and Mrs. George Hanks, and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Weinberg were visiting in Sumter on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw will soon move into the house just vacated by Mr. J. W. Wideman. Mrs. M. C. Croswell of Bishopville, arrived Tuesday morning to visit Mrs. S. R. Venning. Senator J. W. Wideman, has recent )y moved to bin new home, the old Rhame home here. Miss Viola Dixon is visiting her sis ter, Mrs. B. B. Breedin for a short time. T. B. Haynesworth, Jr., who has been very ill at the home of his Aunt, Mrs. W. C. Davis is some better. Judge Wilson left Sunday for Co lumbia to attend Supreme Court there. Miss Addie Weinberg returned Sat urday night after spending three weeks in Sumter as the guest of her brother, Dr. A. Weinberg and Mrs. Weinberg. Mr. Ingram Wilson, who is study ing law at the University of South Carolina spent the week-end here with his parents, Judge and Mrs. John S. Wilson. T. B. Haynesworth, Sr., of Florence spent Sunday with his wife and son who have for the past few weeks, been visiting Capt. and Mrs. W. C. Davis. Ir. Marion Williams was carried to the Toumey Hospital in Sumter where he was operated on for appendicitis en Monday evening. He is reported to be getting along very nicely. The many friends here of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Plowden of Sumter are glail to learn of the, birth of a daugh ter to them on Monday, May 23rd. Mr. Plowden was a former resident of Manning. On Sunday, May 22, Probate Judge Windham performed the ceremony unitinr David C. DuBose of Sardinia and Miss Lydia P. Burgess of King stree in marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Verner of Co lumbia, arrived Tuesday evening from Lake City where for the past few months Mr. Verner has been on busi ness. They will spend a short time with Mrs. Verner's mother, Mrs. G. H1. Huggins before going to Columbia. The small (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wells who has been critically ill for some time was taken to Sumter on Monday evening where an ex-ray was taken of her, but as yet the phy sicians have not found out the cause of her serious illness. She is still about the same as when carried to SGreat interest is being manifested in the proposed hospital for the Coun ty. Buist of Charleston, one of the lead ,ing physicians and surgeons of that city, has also consented to come and will make an addrcss. Other speakers will be secured and a full program of the meeting will be announced later. In the meantime everybody is ex pected to make arrangements to at tend the meeting.
