The program was bright and lively and there was not a dull moment dur ing the evening. The Daddies evident ly had a good time, and said so. How ever they felt sad because they could not be Scouts. He was sevekteen years and twenty threce days old. About three years igo 'he united with Union Baptist -hurch. His life. was full of faith aouarge and devotion to his friends and loVCd Ones. Purdie is survived by his father step mother three sisters, three bro thers and a host of friends to 'mourn his death. All that - physician and loving hands could do he could ilot be raisbd from the bed. While he\ suf rered much he bore his pains without t murmur and met the last with hope :f the Great Beyond, there to await loved ones left behind. In his prayers before he died he pleaded with some f his friends and told them that they were riding fast, were riding to fast and that they would have to turn back. The funeral was held Thursday morning at the Mother Church, con lucted by Rev. Mr. Derricks of New 6ion, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery by his mother whom te said had come for him. We love him yes we love him, But God loved him best; Wother loved him yes mother loved him, And mother called him to come to her, 'ather may call him, sister may call him, 3ut he will not come back to them, [he Lord giveth and the Lord taketh, But the Lord doeth all things for some good., ,The bereaved family hits the sym )athy of the entire community.
