During October 99,967 Ford cars ere made 'n the Ford factory at De oit and shipped out to join the four id one-half million already in sor cc. This is the highest record ever ached by the Ford Company, or any her company. Thirty-three mord ise would have brought production to the 100,000 mark for the month. October 26 wias the banner day, hav g brought forth 4,688 cars. This as also a record breaker. It means at one was completed every cigh en and one-half seconds for the en re twenty-four hour (lay. The Ford timate for this year is one and one tarter millioal cars and trucks. It was during the fall of 1909 that enry Ford placed on the market his >w famous Model "T"-the car that -ought Ford unquestioned supremacy the motor car industry. To (late, ore than four and one-half million of is one model have been built and stributed to the four corners of the orld. Of m1iodlels prior to the "T", irty thousanl were imanufactured. During 1910, 18644 Ford cars were tilt a tremendous output for those tys. Yet in ten years from that time >rd piroduction has grown to raore an one million a year. 'i.-The State High way Commission definitely determined at its meeting here today that the proposed bridge across the Santee river connecting Berkeley and Wil liamsburg counties and the lower and middle sections of the State, would be located either at Murray's Ferry or within one mile of this spot. The defi nite location was not settled upon. Five members of the Santee Bridge Commission, headed by William Bur. guson, of Charleston, its secretary, ex plained that the body had construed the act passed at the last session of the Legislature to mean that 'a bridge had to be built either at "lur ray's Ferry or wvithin one mile of it, interpreting the statute, which reads ''at or near Murray's Ferry," to mean this. The State commission agreed with the in terp retat ion and1( approved it. Obeying instructions of the Bureau of Pub!ic Roaids, United States Depart ment of Agriculture, which believed that the bridge could be constructed cheaper three and one-half miles from Murray's Ferry than at the crossing, the State 1HTighway Engineer had conm pleted a survey at the dlesignatedl spot and estimatedl that hte dliff'erence in saving would he only $2,000, which wa snegli gible in such a large enter p rise. Members of the Santee Bridge Comn mnissioin saidl that the additional con venience to the publ it in having the bridge placed at or near Murray's Ferry wouldl more than conmpensate the increase ini cost.
