Carl Wanderer, a former army officer, shot to death his wife and their unborn child and a "poor boob" who had been hired by the murderer to stage a fake holdup. A jury of men, supposedly sane, fixedl his punishment at twenty-five years in the penitentiary. Good behavior will reduce it to fourteen years. I)ecent people 1he country over have been both amazed and disgusted at this verdiet. It is becoming so increasingly diflicult to meet out justice through the medinuml of men juries that courts and prosecutors are beginning to consider calling in the wonien for jury service. It is painfully evident that their s ense of honor, right and justice is far superior to that of moidern roan. A jury of women inight hesitate at the death penalty, but they at least would have given this human monster a life sentence in the penitentiary. The correction (if these( nauseating jokes by jury appear to be up to the womanhood of our country. If we ever have another war we won't need an army. McCA BE-TEN NANTI ~ WEDDING Miss Clara Frances Tennant one of Summerton's fairest andl most piopular girls was united in marriage to Mr. Josep)h Monteath McCabe on the night of November 3rd, at St. Matthews Protestant Episcop~al Church, near Fort Motte, South Carolina. The Rev. R. L,. Weinman (for the groom) Rector of Orangeburg, and the Rev. W. M. Walton (for the bride) Rector of Su mmerton officiated. Trhe church was dressed in white, ornamentedl with flowers and illumin ated1 with a multitude of candlles the soft lustre of wvhich peculiarly fitted the occasion. 'rho groom wvore the conventional wvedding garb and the bride's sweet face shone under its pureoie of wvhite. Considering the somewhat isolated position of St. Matthews church the crowdl was one of unusual size, com posedl of well known people, and the throngs of automobiles filled the grovo surroundling the building. There were two receptions-One at the home of Mr. Wmn. Anderson at Summerton, was given before the wed dling.
