FISCHER LEAVES CANADA% Returning Voluntarily to New Work to Answer Quiz Regarding: Explo sion-Man Who Warned Friends New York, Sept. 19.-Department of Justice agents and the police were still without a definite clew tonight to the identity of the person or persons re sponsible for Thursday's explosion in Wall street. Alexander Brailovsky, a Russian journalist, who was arrested late yes terday on information furnished by an anonymous correspondent and who ad mitted having been in the financial dis trict a short time after the explosion occurred, is still being held, without bail, on a charge of being an undesir able alien. William J. Flynn, chief of the bu reau of investigation of the Depart men. of Justice, declared tonight that he placed no special significance in Brailovsky's arrest, but said hq was being questioned and held in con orm ance with the department's plan "not to overlook any bets" and to follow up all "leads" that may develop in the course of the investigation. No other charge or suggestion that Brailovsky is in any way personally responsible for the disaster has been made by the authorities. They an nounced, however, that he -would be questioned further and -an effort made to locate the three men with whom he was seen talking at Pine and Nassau streets less than an hour after the blast. He vehemently denies being im plicated in the supposed plot. May Be "Death Wagon" Driver The only other important develop ment within the past twenty-four hours is the suggestion by Medical Ex aminer Forrest that the sole remain ing unidentified body, that of a boy about 19, might be that of the driver of the "death wagon," which was abandoned near the assay office just before the detonation took place and which is believed to have carried the time bomb that caused the disaster. Seven "identifications" of the body were made during the day, but all proved to be erroneous upon subse! quent investigation. A revised list' of the dead tonight showed that thirty-four persons had lost their lives as a result of the ex plosion. Some of the previous lists made the total thirty-five. Robert A. Pope, brother-in-law of Edwin Fischer, woh sent postcard warnings o ithe disaster from To ronto to frier)ds i nthe financial dis trict, was questioned for nearly two hours today at the Department of Jus tice. Pope turned Fischer over to the authorities in Hamilton, Ontario, where he is being detained pending his extradition to this city, where he will be questioned as to his knowledge of the blast. Chief Flynn would not disclose the nature of the investiga tion or say whether Pope had come voluntarily or in answer to a sum mons. Fischer, wvho already has been adljudged mentally incompetent by a lunacy commission in Hamilton, is ex pected here tomorrow. Police investigators wvill question Fischer upon his arrival, department agents said today. Chief Flynn declaredl there was no new developments in the case today, although his men were 'working on several "leads" and hoped for definite results. lie deniedl published reports that he was seeking five members of the so-called Galliani band of an archists. "I know where these people are and we are watching them," lhe saidl. "We have them undler surveillance along with a number of other people, but we are not looking for themi now." ''he Hessian fly, F so destructive to wheat, is one of the insects that can hardly be eradicathd once it is established in the crop. Fall plowing is recommended because it breaks up the soil and destroys the grubs and pupae of many insects by exposing them to the sun and air. b Farmers' Bulletin 835, prepared by a the Bureau of Entomology, tells how t to control the most common and dang erous of the grain farmer's insect enemies. It gives briefly the life his tories of the Hessian fly, army worm, cutworms. grasshoppers, white grubs, t billbugs, corn-root aphis, and wire worms, with authoritative data de scribing the characteristics of each pest and the best practical remedies for control. The bureau advises the grain farmer to plow in the fall, if t possible; to keep a supply of insecti cides and a spraying outfit on hand; to watch the crops carefully for an outbreak, and to report all outbreaks to the county farm adviser, or direct to the Bureau of Entomology, United States Department of Agriculture. 0t THE FATTED CALF HOW TO GROW IT For the prodigal who has finally turned away from growing inferior, unprofitable, and uninteresting live stock the United States Department of Agriculture has prepared a special farmers' bulletin, No. 1135. Under the title "The Beef Calf: Its Growth and Development," this new publication, written principally for young farm ers, tells how to select a beef calf and raise it either for market or for iuse as a breeding animal. The bulletin is a response to an un usual demand by members of boys' and girls' clubs for specific informa tion on the principles and practices of raising well-bred calves, prepared them for show or sale, and disposing of them to advantage. Desirable and undesirable types of calves are dis cussed and illustrated. "Safety demands an orderly defla ion and an orderly deflation is a uch slower and more painful pro ess than inflation. With patience herefore, the business public and the cople generally must cooperate for n orderly deflation of credit and ure. If the process should appear very slow the reason for it must be inchanged, as a slip might precipitate t crisis and slips of any kind are herefore to be avoided.
