IS STAGED AT AIKEN
Aiken, Aug. 31.-A big parade, in
which the mayor of the city and oth

the Woman's Suffrage League of this
1-lace. Thirty-six automobiles, deck
ed in the suffrage colors, vere in line
ehind, a brass hand. Speeches were
made by the mayor, who read the
proclamation of Secretary Colby. A
humorous feature o fthe parade was
the hauling of a coffin, labeled
Aunty "Suffragist," at the head of
the lino behind Dave W. Gaston, who
aoted as grand marshal.

Williamson, W. Va., Aug. 31.-An
attack of 200 men, believed to have
beenl directed at the coimissary of the
Howard Colliery Company, or the
homes of Superintendent H. V. Ing
haniand L. L. Tinsley nearby at Chat
taroy, near Williamson was broken up
by eight United States infantrymen
this morning according to reports
reaching here.
'The attacking party formed on both
sides of the site upon which Chatta
roy is located, it is reported and
marched in concert on the colliery.
TPhe infantry, a detachment of the
troops which were recently sent into
the strike zone from Camp Sherman,
exchanged shots with the party and
then charged into the woods.
The attacking party was dispersed
in the woods surrounding the colliery.
