of the party's books and records were

the amount given, the party's cam

of the party in the campaign.
"It will be given to the committee
tomorrow," said Mr. Upham. "It will
sho wthat there is no corruption, no
slush fund and that Gox. Cox's state

Will Fight Fire, Says Hays,
Previous statements by Mr. lHays
and Mr. Upham that the Republican
party would not bo content with de
fending itself from Gox, Cox's charges
but would present evidence concerning
the Democratic campaign fund, were
reiterated tonight.
"We will fight it'8 with fire," said

campaign or tend to humiliate him.
Mr. Ilays gave newspaper mien
formal statement again denying Gov
ernor Cox's charges. "Candidato Cox
has charged that millions have been
paid to the Republican national com
mittee by sinister influences to buy
the Presidency," .said the statement.
"Yesterday he is reported to have
said in New Yoak that many men are
making cont ributions to the Repub
lican campaign fund for the purpose
of using the bayonet to settle indus,
trial difliculties. Candidate Cox will
have to prove these charges, but this
lie can not do because they are ab
solutely false, iTis declarations are
anI insult to the thousands of citizens
niding us with small contributions and
we will publicly prove them false by
piaking publi: the niame of every con
tributor, the amount and the purpoo
for which it is spent.
"Incidentally Candidate Cox will
have to explain the siource of his
funds collected by his own national
committee and by the agencies out
side his national committee for hii9
benefit"
