PACKERS MAY SELL
YARDS TO GROWER
*P4 Washington, Aug. 31.-Ultimate own
ership of the great stock yards b
live stock dealers and producers i
proposed by the "big five" meat-pack
",g companies in a plan for disposi
tion of their yard holdings, filed to
day in the Supreme Court of the Dis
trict of Columbia.
Sale of the packer interests in the
stock yards was necessitated by a re.
cent court decree compelling the pack.
ing companies to divest themselves ol
.all ownership of yards terminal rail
ways and market newspapers. The
decree resulted from a voluntary
agreement between counsel for the
packers and the Departme'nt of Jus
tice in the Government's attempt to
dissolve an alleged trust.
Aln option of sale of the packer
stock yard interests to F. H1. Prince &
Co., Boston capitalists was made a
part of the record filed here. The Bos
ton company is obligated, under its
option to take over the entire inter
est of the "big five" in fifteen market
places. The company proposes fornia
tion of a holding company, which will
offer its securities to persons who pro
duce and sell the live stock and will
provide these persons with representa
tion in the nianagement of the proper
ties.
