This is due largely to imprope handling between the farm and th market. Many farmers look upol eggs as a by-product, and the return as so much clear gain. The hens for age for a living; eggs are gathere whenever convenient and kept almos anywhere. With such carelessnes and a combination of mongrel stoci dirty nests, stolen nests of brood hens, unconfined males, late-maturin pullets and other undesirable cond tions, is it any wonder that the prc duct includes a high percentage c small, cracked, dirty, stale, heated and even rotten eg-gs? Care Should be Given iMarket Eggs Occasionally the accumulations c all these kinds of eggs are taken t the country merchants and exchange for merchandise. The merchant u, ually buys these eggs, "case count, paying the same price for all kind and sizes, provided the shells are ur broken. Small production results i small or infrequent shipments. If possible, only -nonfertile egg should be produced for market; fertil eggs deteriorate rapidly and are ti cause of much loss.
