Washington, March 16-All phases of the prohibition question will be heard by the supreme court before handing down its deetsion * upon the validity of the prohibition amendment an dthe' Volstead act. Having heard argunitents in the "Rhode Island, Kentucky and Massa chusetts cases ,the court today granted "'the state of New Jersey permission to - nistitute original proceedings to test lie.amendment. It also fixed March 9 for, hearing arguments in the New Jersey proceedings on appeal by Christian Feigenspan, a Newark, N. J., brewer, and on government appeals in injunction proceedings against the Maitowoc Products Conpany, a Wis consin concern. The tw6 appeal cases apply princi pally to the validity of the prohibi - tion amendment in so far as it relates to the manufacture or be'er alleged to b non-intoxicating.' The government wbn the former but lost the latter case in the lower courts. The court also took under advise ment motions asking that arguments ' be heard on appeals involving inter iretations of the amendment and the olstead act dock9ted today from New ork and San Francisco. The former appeal resulted from the denial of in junctions to prevent federal agents froip seizing intoxicating -liquors as signed for private consumption but held in storage. In view of the mutiplicity of re 4ests for hearing, the court proposed a t*o weeks recess planned to begin March 29.
