RED CROSS CHRISTMAS STAMPS ON SARL NOW There is nothing new in the sale of Red Cross Xmas Seals. The only new feature which has been introduced in this campaign against T. B. is taking ing orders during September from the larger business houses, of envelopes stamped with the seal. This was in augurated il order to save the busi ness firms with the time taken to stick the seal on the envelope. The envelopes also bear the slogan "For the Good Health of this Community." It h -s been the custom al lover the United States to place on sale at Xmas Tide this attractive little Red Cross Xmas Seal at the small cost of one cent each. It has become a beau tiful custom for all packages letters and cards to bear the Xmas seal, which wishes Health and Tappiness to the receiver of letter or gift. Besides bearing good wishes to friends and familly, it is a token of the buyers love of his fellow man especially of the unfortunate one who is suffering from the tuberculosis. All funds raised through the sale of these tiny "little soldiers of Christ" as a poor consumlptive has named them goes toward the relie! and eli mination of tuberculosis, which is still the greatest scourge of humanity. This Xmas seal is leading in a cam paign to educate the people that T. B. can be cured and can be prevented. If we ever expect to eradicate this dreadful disease, we must have nurses who can visit the patient at home and protect the family by teaching them isolation, disinfection and habits which will accomplish the results, where me dicine is useless. The sale of the Xmas seal will place or help place such a nurse in your county. There were in 1918, 20,000 tubercu losis persons in South Carolina with a probable increase this year due to the epidemic of influenza of last win ter. More sanatoria must be provided. There must be more beds, more nurses more open air schools, more of every thing that is necessary to crush the scourge. F.
