Columb a, May 3.-A gigantic "Live
at Home" and Feed Yourself" move
ment those behind it claim will revo
lutionize the farming industry in the
South is being launched among the
farmeres of the cotton belt. The
South Carolina Cotton Association is
nianning to father the movement in
this State.
Fro-, the headquarters in this city
yesterday the first gun in the big
drive was fired when a letter went to
the county chairman of each county
cotton association asking if he would
take the initiative in the campaign
in his county. There is a cotton as
sociation in every county in the State.
The plan of the movement is said
to be to try to get every farmer in
the State to sign a pledge solemnly
binding himself to discontinue send
min orders to the West for grain, hav
anl foodst:ffs after this season. Each
citizen who signs the pledge also
pledges himself to use every effort
to fret all other farmers to sign it.

namaker, chairman of the central
committee of the South Carolina Cot
