On last Thursday afternoon while seated at his dinner table, Mr. Jasper L. Andrews, a farmer who lives about two miles from Paxville, was stricken with a pain in the back of his head, and before his wife could get to him from the other s de of the table, life was extinct. Stewart, the prmncipal, were seen holding frequent conferences and some time during the night a number of them came together and called for Stewart, but he did not respond. The next morning Stewart's enemies were astonished with the news that he was married the evening before to Miss Maggie DeLaine, whose name is not connected with the scandal,and to whom he has been engaged for quite awhile. A prominent citizen cailled out atten tion to an insanitary condition which exists at the Institute, and it should have the immediate attention of the proper authorities. In the northern portion of the town there has been sev eral cases of slow fever, which is be lieved can be traced to this source. At the Institute there are a great many children, and naturally the accummula tion of putrid matter must be great, if this is not carefully watched and re moved there may be a considerable amount of sickness resulting from neg lect. The council has gotten the town in excellent condition. and the Inten dant and Wardens all, deserve the praise of all good citizers for the fine management, and of course it is almost impossible for these cfficers to find everything that needs attention, and as sensible practical men they are always glad to have their attention called to matters affecting the welfare of the town. It is in this spirit we call their attention to the closets on the school grounds and suggest that the premises be inspected at once. Editor The Manning Tunes: Permit me, please, to suggest to the trustees of those school districts in our county which have out.standing School Chart Claims against them, to notify the County Treasurer at once not to pay the same. The court is now in vestigating those of our district in a mandamus proceeding, but the best way is to prevent the payment of the rest until the validity of the claims .are established. This may not enter into the investigation now being made by the Judge as injunction may be the ap propriate remedy. News in this section is very scarce, and it is difficult to find anything to be of interest. How often do we see big strapping young men strutting about in the cities and towns, dressed nicely without hav ing any apparent means of support, and I have often wondered' how they man age this sort of thing.
