An accidental shooting occured on XMr. M. L. Sauls' place near Sardinia last Saturday which resulted in the killing of Henry Brown colored. It seems that John Woods, colored boy about 10 or 12 years of age had a gun and was in the act of handing it to Brown, when in some mysterious way the gun went off. The deceased is a brother of the man that was shot by a woman at Alcolu list spring. This is for the little boys. An extra session of the last General Con ference of the Reformed Methodist Union Episcopal church col., of the States of So.th C-rolina and Georgia is called to convene in tL city of Charleston, October 31. The demise of the late Bishop Rt. Rev. Win. C. Johnston, is the occasion of the call for the purpose of electing and consecrating an other for the Episcopal Chair. The Rt. Rev. C. R. Middleton, of this county who is general Secretary of the denomination is bishop pro tem by virtue of his office. The general sentiment of the whole denomina tion from our observation seem to favor the elevation of the general Secretary to the Episcopal Chair, and probably he may gain the majority vote in the General Con ference. Mills, the last moderator. It is composed of 14 ministers and 33 churches in the counties of Kershaw, Sum ter, Clarendon, Williamsburg and Georae town. There were present at this mneeting 11 of its ministers and 20 ruling elders fron that number of its churches. aRev. J. C. Baxiley, .Jr., was elected \Mod. erator, and Rev. C. M. Richards, reading clerk. Mr. Luther 0. McCutchen, after a satis factory examination on personal piety, and his notiv-es for seeking the ministry, was taken under the care of Pr-sbytery asa candidate tor the ministry. Rev-. W. W. Sadler, a minister of Bethel Presbyterv, was received into this Presby tery. "Calls were placed in his hands fromx tynchburg ad Bethel churches, which he accepted, and ar angemnents were made for his install ~tion as pastor over them. Presbytery investigated the foundation of certain rumors, touching the Christian character of cne of its ministers, and found nothing w'hatever to substantiate the-m. IBut inasmuch as the intimation was made that additional evidence might be given, if the opportunity were presented, Presby tery determined to send a commission to the place where the rumors originated, se that those wvho gave the intimation might have every opportunity of justifying them selves in bringing the matter to the atten tion of Presbytery. ofRev.
