Seed Cotton Violators. In last week's issue of THE TrnxEs we ublished the list ot those who have com lied with the law and paid to the clerk of 2a court the license fee of x25 to buy seed otton. This was done at the request of a iember of the grand jury who is disposed > give those who bought seed cotton with ut having procured the license a chance come forward and pay their money. This juryman is determined to have the .w -ntorccd and when court meets't all of csc who have rot p:id in their :onoey Le ipreseat to the ecourt. Three is a law equitg a license in this coaunty to pur base seed cotton, and as long ; that law eCL:ins it should be enforced without re pet of persons. We do not believe in the iw, and think our representatives should ee that it is repealed, but at the same time t is law now. and no one should be allowed o treat the law with contempt. There is too much indifference being hown these days about respecting the aws of the land, and if something is not lone to correct it soon, all law will be treat d the same way and chaos will be the re. tlt. There are a number of merchants rho have bought seed cotton in this county n violation of law, and yet they expect the yrotection of the law when they themselves r.: infringed upon. The only way to keep his county from being run over by those nelined to disregard law is to make a strict nforcement without showing partiality. We sincerely hope this warning will be ufficient to cause those who failed to take >ut the licence to come up and save them elves the annoyance of answering in court. The Epiecopaiians of the Panola and Summerton neighborhood are completing a gem of a little church in the village of Summerton, and in its artistic finish it is proving a great ornament to that City of Churches. All praise to the little band of this de nomination who, without adequate means in hand to complete it, nevertheless laid its foundation in faith, and with increasing prayer labored for its final finish, and to day its gilded cross points heavenward. Help came in response to fuith, and even from distant Philadelphia Christian women sent generous aid and tender words of cheer, and with the raising of a small bal ance due the contractor, their beautiful house of worship will be ready for an early dedication by Bishop Capers. With this end in view the ladies have arranged for a musicale, with refreshments, to occur at the commodious residence of the Hon. James M. Richardson on the evening of the 28th inst. This will be to the lovers of music a rare treat indeed, for the splendid talents of Summerton and Panola are to be sup plemented by the generous aid of those masters of music of the Fulton section, famed for their tongue and touch. Letter From Brogdons. There was a very pleasant entertainment at the hospitable residence of Mr. W. T. Costin on Friday evening, the 3rd inst., given in honor of Miss Bessie DuRant. The chief and most enjoyable feature of the erening was the music furnished by Miss Netta Williams and Mr. D. T. Wells of Aleolu and Mrs. F. L. Collins, daughter of the host, and the cutting of the ring c ke. The latter caused mruch pleasurable excitement, Mrs. Jennie Ballewv of Alcola being the winner of the ring. The evening will long be remembered by the invited guests as one of unalloyed pleasure. F. WV. WV. Brogdon s, S. C., December 4, 1897. SOMETHING TO KNOW. It may be worth something to know that the very best me'iicine for restoring the tired out nervous system to a healthy vigor is Electric Bitters. The medicine is purely vegetable, acts by niving tone to the nerve centres in the stomach, gently stimulates the liver and kidneys, and aids these or gans in throwing 'off impurities in the blood.
