The merchants of this town are getting
in their fall goods, which is a blessing to
the purchasing public, as these goods were
boaght before the tariff law was enacted.

and when he replaces a broken pane of
glass he proposes to keep the prettiest

Our mer chants are hauling large quanti
ties of bagging from the depot and from
the reports the indications are that they
will need more bagging than heretoforo to
cover the coming cotton crop.

If the news from Washington as reported
in the newsprpers is correct, South Caro
lina is to have about thirty colored post
masters very shortly. This will be the be
ginning of Africanizing the State.
There is no truth in the report that one
of our public spirited citizens while on his
summer vacation trip recently to Greeley
ville, left the train at Foreston and walked
the rest of the distance to save railroad fare.
It is said that a flying snake was seen
last Saturday hovering over a blind tiger in
the Renin section. We have no doubt
but what people who drink blind tiger
booze arc liable to see all kinds of snakes.

vault. However, MIr. Timamons is to be

The Kingstree Dispensary is in trouble
again. Dispenser Stutts shot his clerk on
discovering that he had been again robbed.
Stutts believes that his clerk. Peter Mant
thews, who is his brother-in-law, is in with
those who robbed him.

It is unlawful to fish with nets or
rigs, or set traps. or shoot fish with
iny kind of gun, in any of the fresh
vaters, rivers, creeks. lakes or other
treams in Clarendon, Chesterfield,
ieorgetown, Horry. 3Marion, 3Marl
