The registration board have been in session since last Monday. Mr. M. Levi and Major Abe Levi left last Sunday for Philadelphia. The Metbodists of this town have a revival meeting now in progress. Several communications are crowd ed out this week for lack of space. Ice for sale at Huggins' market. Last Monday was salesday and the Sheriff only had some tax delinquent lands to sell. Quite a number from this county will be in Nashville on "Confederate Veterans" day. The Walker stores are rapidly ap proaching completion. They are two very pretty stores. Died last Saturday, near Remini, Mrs. Scott L. Strange, wife of Mr. C. E. Strange, aged about forty-one years. Died last Sunday, Mr. Ashby Bry ant, aged about 27 years. The funeral took place last Monday at Bethlehem Church near Davis. Marion, Marlboro and Darlington have each had Congressmen, and we think they can well afford to give some other county a cha.nce. Buy your ice at Huggins' market. Town tax return blanks are being distributed and we hope the returns will be 'handed in promptly. The time for making these returns expires July 31st. The Columbia "State" of last Mon day convicted the Charleston "News and Courier" of inconsistency on its attitude towards Senator McLaurin. The "News and Courier" displayed a piece of bad memory when it took issue with McLaurin on his tariff utterances. Manning was visited with a severe thunder and lightning storm last Friday night. The lone pine tree in the court house square was struck and killed. A mule belonging to Capt. W. C. Davis was killed and a colored girl wvas stunned. When the primary is ordered for the Congressional vacancy, we sup pose the vacancy in the State Sena torship will also be filled. Candidates aspiring for these honors will do well to insert their cards in THEi TDas. All cards must be accompanied with five dollars. We are under obligations to Mr. W. A. Reckling, the photographer, of Columbia, for an excellently executed picture of the presidents of the State Press Association. We hope he will consent to make the race, Clar endon is entitled to the honor and Captain Bradham would make a fine representative. Solicitor Wilson's name has also been mentioned in connection with the Congressional honor. The recent meeting of the Press Association has done great work; it brought the editors together and it brought about a more fraternal feel inag. We hope in the future there will be a better understanding among them and less' bitterness will be in jected into their writings. Last Sunday, while Mr. Fuller. Brooker and family were visiting at Mr. Wash Holliday's, near Summer ton, and were about to start for their home, Mr. Brooker had his horse hitched up to his buggy and jumped in to drive around until his wife and little one were ready. Somethingr frightened the horse and away it: dashed at full speed, getting beyond Mr. Brooker's control. Fort unately no one was hurt, but the buggy was smashed. The young folks of Sunmmerton attended an exhibition givo. by the Oak G=rove school last Monday night. While going the wagon was ditched, then quite an ex citing time among the girls begun, but nothing serious happened: they were pulled out and all resumed their seats and the trip was continued. Nearly all of my goods are new and of the latest styles. Commencing today I will make the following reductions: On all Mens and Boys' Clothing, 25 per cent. Off. On all Furnishing Goods, 20 per cent. When I first started in business I adopted the rule of marking everything in plain fig ares with a reasonable profit, and have ad hecred to it ever since, so that buyers can see for themselves, if at all doubtful, that they are getting the benefit of the liberal reduc tion. These prices are for cash, but to those who have accounts with me, payable in the fall, I will also make a reduction on what they buy from now on.
