Our printers are complaining of a scar
city of job work. Look over your p rinting
and see if you are not out of something.
We can print yonr letter heads, envelopes,
business cards, wedding invitations,* cards

line. Neat work, prompt delivery and
reasonable prices, our strong points.
See the advertisement of the Sumter Dry
Goods Company. The stock is up-to-date
in every respect, as is shown by the crowds
of ladies in the store every day. You have
missed a great deal if you have not seen
the beautiful stoch. As to cheapness, it is
but the simple truth to say that such extra
ordinarily good values for the money have
never before been offered.
Perhaps many of our readers do not
realize what a veritable hive of industry the
Manning Hoisery Mill is. and when we
strolled over there we realized for the first
time what the mill was doing for the town
of Manning. The mill at present gives
employment to nearly fifty hands, and, in
conversation with Mr. Mleiers. manager, we
learned that a large number of machines
were daily expected to augment the output.
At present the output is 100 dozen hose a
day, and with the additional machinery
the mill will be able to turn out about 160
dozen per day. Of course, with the increase
in facilities the force will be increased and
an increase in force means an increase in
the money to be distributed amony our
tradesmen. If we had a few miore~ in
dustries of a like nature, we would soon see
see our town growing at a rapid pace.
Wood's tested garden seed for sale only
Occasionally we hear of the sudden d
mise of a dog and we do not feel any
pangs of sorrow, but when we learned of
the poisoning of one of Eddie Horton's pair
,)f pretty dogs we thought it a pity. These
little dogs were harmless pets and the one
killed rarely left the stors of Eddie's father.
some one gave her a dose and she wis

warned people against letting dogs run at
arge.
Some of our young men are now out in
all the glory of straw hats, negligee shirts
and shirt sleeves engaged in that great
merican game of baseball. Although we
ave not as yet developed any players who
would be suitable as applicants for admis
;ion to a National League club, yet, with
he number of athletic young r.en in town
t would be possible to organize a pretty
trong team. Get together, boys, and let
is know what you do.

We take pleasure in calling the attention
f our readers to the advertisement of the
'arolina Grocery Company, of Char
ston. This concern has within a com
aratively short time built up a very ex
ensive business and when they gain a
ustomer he is fixed permanently. Mr. W.
;. Wilson, so favorably known throughout
his entire section, is managing the busi
ess, and he is always clad to extend the
glad hand" to any of us when we go to the
ity. We hope our business friends
broughout this setion will continue pat
oizing this company, which is composed
f former residents of the County and the
ead of the concern Captain Thomas Wil.
on has done much towards developing the
esourses of the material interests of Clar
don county.
The old commercial war horse, Moses
jevi, is out in our columns this week with
omething to say to our readers with refer
nee to his well stockted store. Levi's stock
f spring goods are worth your while to in
pect, for he has everything that up.to
ate purchasing could buy. It would take
man trained in the dry goods business to
ive our readers an idea of the many differ
nt kinds of spring fabrics that can be
ond in this, the largest store in the coun
7. Mr. Levi not only has a large stock of
try goods, but his entire stock is replete
rith the newest styles and designs. There
ever was a merchant more anxious than
te to give his patrons the best shoe for the
east money and the prettiest styles that
he market afforded was his delight.
Ve will not attempt to describe Mr. Levi's
tore, but we will remind our readers that
fr. Levi, and his mode of doing business
s not new to them. In fact, Clarendon
ounty has all through it evidences of this
nerchant's thrift and energy. There is
tardly a plantation where he has not had
usiness relations with its owner. He is
horongly identified with everything in
he county. He has shared in the sorrows
nd joys of the people and to.day he is
ound in the forefront in every public
saure that is to benefit the people of
his county. We would ask that our read
irs give special consideration to the mer
hants who advertise with us for it shows
hem to be public spirited, a characteristic
hat all people must admire. Be sure and
ake a look at Levi's beautiful line of
prng goods.
