School Commissioner Ragin gives notice in another column that the fall examination for public school teachers, will be held in Manning. Friday, Oct. 2d. 10 pounds family flour for 25 cents at Ka lisky's. County Auditor Davis is now the hardest worked man in the court house. He is bus ily engaged making up his books to turn over to the treasurer for the tax collection. Call at V. H. Young's for the best sewing machine in the market. Trinity Alliance will meet next Saturday. Sep. '2th, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, in - stead of Oct. 3rd. The fourth quarterly conference for the Manning Methodist church will be held next Saturday and Sunday. Rev. E. T. The Cheraw Iron Works have established a branch in the city of Sumter, where they keep a full line of fittings, belting, and sup plies. The machinery sent out by this es tablishment has given satisfaction, and our farmers and mill men will do well when in need of anytning in the machinery line to give this house a trial. Mr. Bloom, who has charge of the business in Sumter, will be found a thorough business man that will take pleasure in giving estinmates and ad vice upon any standard machinery in t. market. Under the management of this gentleman the Cheraw Iron Works have made their experiment in establishing a branch in Sumter a success, and\ now it is one of the permanent institutions of that city. Last Sunday was a "busy day" with the pastor of the Manning and Dudleys Bap tist churches. I superintended the Manning Sunday school at 10 o'clock a. in., preached at 11, received three additions, and baptized elev en candidates in the font, after the sermon. At the Dudleys church, at 4 p. mn., preached -a sermon, in addition baptized three in the font, after the sermon; then preached at the Alcolu school house at8 p. m. Could have married a couple, if handy, but did preach the funeral of Mrs. Daniels the next day. Pastor T. E. JASPER. GRATIFYING TO ALL.
