Mr. EmTo'u: In the absence of any local and political news, please allow we space in our columns to tell a tide that may gladden he heart -f some poor sufferer as mine has >een. About six years ago, a small tumor nade its appearance on my face midway he right corner of my n:outh and chin; in ,yo years it grew to the size of a dime, then livided in half and soughed ioff to tL' sur aee of my face. Then it was the dread won ter began its work of destruction. Two ex >erienced physicians saw it and pronounced I a real cancer. also, treated it, but to no pur >ose: it continued to grow or eat slowly 'til rst fall, while the itching and stinging were Imost beyond human endurance. I had iven up all hope of finding any reli-f from tt venomous sting 'till life had ceased. About the first of October last, Dr. Abram Briggs saw it and (truly it was a dreadful ore) undertook its cure. For the space of wo months I began to dispare of a cure; af er that time, the flow of purple matter in reased rapidly, the itching and stinging to essen. some month 1 ater, the rough dges of the sore began to slough off in small ieces, slowly tho'. and the parts cleared com 2enced to heal, and by the first of May 1887, ay face was well and as smooth as an in ants, and is now well. I write this, Mr. Ed tor. for no other purposs on earth, but that t may reach the eye of some that may be uffering as I have sufferred, also, hoping hat every journalist in the State that can ympathize with suffering humanity, will lace my case before its readers, that the un irtunate may know where to find relief. He ras funeralized on yesterday with all the onor, tenderness, and aflection that those rat loved him so well, could pay to his menm ry. Such a vast concourse of colored pee le at a faneral at Fulton, has never before een witnessed. The minimum estimate ras 1.200. It is no exageration to say that a was more universally known, loved, and evered by his race than any man that ever 'ved. His wise and godly precepts and coa cendable admonitions to his people, elicit d the admiration and respect of the white eople of the community, so long his borne. his was attested by the presence of many rominent white people at his funeral. The reat iminence of this good old mian will be adly missed. He endeavored alwatys to in ulcate into his people the sublime princi les of the "Golden Rule." It can be aid of him as is said of Ben Adhem in those nduring lines: "I pray thee, then, Vrite me as one tha: lovea his fellow-man. The Angel wrote and vanished. The next night t camne again with a great wakening light, Lnd showed the names whom love of God had blessed, Lnd lo ! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest."
