John a lady '2 higly esteemed in the comm , had ben,in the broad light of day, d g her husand's absence, attacked by a ruf-4 dian, robbed and miercilesly . Nor was the excitement calculated to sened when the report was corroborate y the lady's bleeding person and her pi tale. These are the facts as far as we gather them from those present: Mrs. Jo n was in her house with her sister-in-la a in ant,. when she was confronted b burly, negr, who demanded money, withs threat to kilher unless it was produec Mrs. Johnson got seventy-five een 11 the money in the house, and gave to , tell ing him she had no more. Suspicion rested on James Conners and adson Conners, two disreputable loiterers a the community. They were taken up and n being examined confessed that they were be parties who stood in the road, while ohn Butler. a notoriously bad negro, for hoin there is now a bench warrant, did e devilish work. The citizens of Jordan ith a respect for the law, worthy of the ighest commendation, brought their pris ners to Manning and delivered them to the iicials. For many years I was a sufferer ithi cancer of the nose, and having" een cred bythe use of S. S. S.,I el constrained by a sense of duty toe Laffering humanity to make this state :ent of my case. I first discovered -the sore on my ose, which afterwards proved a can er, during the year 1863, while in be army of Tennessee, stationed at lull Gap. At first it gave me but ttle trouble, still I could not get rid f it, and though I tried hundreds of emedies it gradually grew worse, and .uring the last two years troubled me reatly. Something over a year ago was advised to take S. S. S., and was nally induced to try a dozen bottles.' Vhen the dozen bottles were taken p thongh m'y general health 'was mch benefitted, the cancer remained my nose. I concluded to take no1 aore of the S. S. S. but my friends 2ade a ecitical examination of the flicted member and decided that it >oked better, and prevailed on me to ontinue the medicine. With the1 yurteenth bottle the cancer began to eal rapidly and soon disappeared, andi >r several mouths there has been no ppearance of a sore of any kind on aynose or face, neither is my nose t all tender to the touch. I have den about two dozen bottles of S. S.t and am soundly cured, and I know bat S. S. S. effected the cure after very known remedy was tried andt d failed. I will further state that it mother had a cancer on her nose n the same side and the exact spot Blatively that mine was, and I had iways t'hought mine was hereditary( nd incurable. ROBER SMIEDLE.
