Bass on Thursday the 12th inst.. at the residece of Mr. Chester Ard, father of the bride. Mr. E. 0. Ingram is attending the tiouth Carolina Colloge- - The Legislature meets next Tuesday. Mr. W. T. Lesesse has given up his posi tion in Columbiaad expect to leave for Fla. at an early day. Mr. Lesesne will carry with him the test wishes of the TntEs. Rev. H. F. Chreitzberg. of Sumter, and Rev. S. Leard euhaniged pulpils last Sun day, Mr. C. preached in the morning and again in the eveningin the Methodist church here to large and appreciative congregations. Our reading matter is less this week on account of the report of the Coumissioners. There are two male agents on the Central railroad, one of whon is Mr. Jno. S. Rich ardson. Jr. We are reliably informed that Mr. Richardson was not on duty when the gros negligence, mentioned in last week's 1mei occurred. Mr, Bowman, the.worthy Postmat at Manning. reports Mr. rich adson ass capable and eficient railway derk. The State Baptist Convention meets in Greenville to.day. The conventzon was aP ,pointed to meet in Newberry, but on ac ount of the death of the Rev. Luther Broad us the place of meeting was changed to Greenville. Rev. L. D. Bass, D. W. Alderman and wife, and A. J. Tindal will attend as dele ges from the Manning Baptist Church. .We received yesterday, too late for this weeks paper, a communication from M1r. E G:Candler and another from Prof. Nat Al en. on the Kingstree Examination. These agticles will appear in the next two issues in the order named. Mr. Edior: The second session of the Sabbath School Convention of the Maxruan District. A. M E. Church, convened in Trin ity A. M. E. Church, in the town of Man ning, Oct. 23d and 24th, Rev J. W. Lykes, who is quite a grace and honor to the race which he represen ts, presided over the Leet in.. In his opening address to the Con vention, he said, "The success of the com ing generation and church, depended en tirely upon the young people of the race. He took education as an exponent to qual fiv them for the involving duties of life, both in the church and State. Now. it is a cheering thing to note the rapid progress of our people in the Sunday School work since the last oonventiot. The progress over that of last year is as fol. lows: Education, 50 per cent; Morality, 3o per cent: State and country, 75 per cent; Finance, 10 per cent; Temperance, per cent; Method of teaching 75 per cent; Schol ars, 40 per cent; Method of preaching, 75 per cent; Parliamentary usag,-s, 15 per cent; It was the finest and best quaditied body of colored men that ever met in the town of Manning. We solicit the sympathy, and prayers of every true hearted gentleman to God and humanity fgr the upholding of our people as a race, for, when we find on,. that is properly educated, he is just like any Sother citizen4 The generous heartea brethen and sisters of Trinity A. M. E. Church had every pre. paration that wus necesiary to accommodate the delegation and visiting friends. At th adjournment of each session, the sisters had every thing that was nice you know for the inner in. S. Convention. ,0 Cancer Conqnered. For seven years past I' have been suffering with a cancer on my face. At first it vave but little trouble, aud I paid very little attention to it. After a titme it began to increase in size, and also to pain me. The simple remedies were applied to alleviate the pain, but I was not conscious of its true nature, thinking it only a sore of malignant nature, and would soon pass away under the other treatment. In this I was mistaken, as the place continued to grow, extending into my nose, from which came a yellowish discharge very offensive in character. It was also inlnmed, and annoyed me a great deal. About eight mnonths ago I was in Atlanta, at the house of a friend, Mrs. C. D. H.,'wbo observed the condition of my face, and sc strongly recommended,. the use of Swift's Specific that I determined to make an effort to procure it. In this I was siuccesdfui, and began its use. The influence of the medicine at first was to somewhat aggravate the sore:; but soon the inamation was allayed, and I began to improve after the first few bottles. My general health has. greatly improved. Iam stronger, and am able to do any kind of work. The cancer on my face began to decrease and the ulcer to heal, until there is not a vestige of it left-only a littte scar marks the place where it had been. I am devoutly grateful for this wnderul relief from what everybody thought wvould be certain death. I am ready to answer all questions re lative to this curie. Mis. Joiu A. McDomD.
