Deaths.
Died on Sunday mornig, Oct.11th, Jno.
L Ingram, infants=on of Mr. and Mr S. E.
Ingram. Tender were the aspirations felt
for this child-bright were the hopes fond
ly cherished in the father's and mother's
heart. The pratlings of infancy was the
musie of home-his boyhood would be
their joy, promising a manhood that would
bring honor and usefulness.
The remains were intered in the ola Du
Iant burying ground.
Died suddenly Sunday morning the 11th
1ust. Mrs. G. Mack Hicks, wife of Mr. G.
31. Hicks. of Salem. We are very sorry to an
nounce the death of this estimable lady.
She was a member of the Baptist Church,
and by her exemplary, pious life, _ has left
behind her a record worthy of imitation.
We tender to the afflicted husband our
warmest sympathies.
Mr. . I. Montgomery who has had alife
long reputation for kindness of heart and
extending sympathy to any fellow being in
ditress, while on a visit to the city of
Charleston, saw a young man there by the
name of Edward Jones from the far off
North languishing on a bed of suffering and
affiction trom that most terrible of all dis
eases. consumption. Willing to chuer the
closing hours of this unfortunate young man
of onul 20 years, who, even in his physical
wrek exhibited the remains of what had
before been the splendid specimen
of a handsome intellignt and vigorous
youth, proffered a home of comfort. sur
rounded by all that leindness and care could
bestow. He ?Djoyed the beneficent change
but a brief while for, rapidly growing worse,
the emaciated form soon passed into the
quiet of the grave. It is sad to see one - die
in youth, rven tho' the departing spirit be
cheered by the consforting presence of loved
ones, but to one a stranger in a strange
land it is doubly melancholy. If good deeds
can light up the dark valley, Mr. M's. pas
sage through will be illumined by many a
bright trophy.
