DRIVE FOR FUNDS FOR | M STATE SANATORIUM | J The following letter was received E by Miss Effie Griffin, asking her to I take charge of a drive to secure I funds with which to equip the new B building at the South Carolina State K sanatorium. The campaign begins I this week and if you are able and I willing to make a contribution you I may hand it to te worker who will B visit you sooner or later, or you may I mail contributions to Miss Griffin. Any amount which you may be able I to make will be highly appreciated I and will be given due recognition. I Miss Effie Griffin, Newberry, S. C. Dear Madam: The legislature of 1922 provided for the erection of a twenty-four bed building for women at the S. C. Sanitorium. This building will ,be completed by Sept. 1, 1922. There was no appropriation to furnish it. To wait for such an appropriation means a loss of six months or more for those now awaiting admission. For many this loss of time may mean no chance of recovery Friends have snggested that necessary funds be secured through contributions and thus bring relief earlier to' those now on the waiting list. It will cost about $100.00 per bed to equip building. This amount provides bed, springs, mattress, pillows linen, blankets, chair, table, etc. Will you kindly present the matter to your community in a way that seems wise to you. If any individual, society, club or other organiration furnish a complete unit ($100). a metal plate bearing a suitable inscription will be attached to bed. Yours very truly, Carrie Spivey, R. X. Y.'S, Jason, you are right. The country would have more respect for congress of it were not for the congressmen. A lot of mistakes in politics, says the Columbia Record, .ire 'l>?e to the presumption that women are not human beings.
