Members present were Welch Wilbur, T. R. Summer, L. G. Eskn ic u* w AT Olinvo^ r^uge, Li. r. yy i igm,, ??. .11. 9L T. K. Jchnstane, C. W. Fant and W. B. Wallace. At this meeting there j;L.: was considerable enthusiasm shown, as the building committee was present and made a very gratifying report. The members of the building committee present were J. H. Wick9L er, C. T. Summer, H. W. Schumpert, H W. G. Mayes and H. B. Wells. The> K| reported that the rock structure oi the club house was practically comH pleted, and that all lumber had been purchased for the completion of this building, and that the work V was being pushed rapidly, and they hoped it would be near completior within the next four or cix weeks. I* | (is estimated that the club house wil cost approximately $9,000.00. The committee consisting of T. R Summer, L. G. Eskridge, Jno. B Setzler and W. M. Sherard, on goll links, reported that they had begur work on same, and the links had ' <~ei laid out by an expert, and they hop ed they" would be able to push th< work rapidly. C., July 30.?For the purpose of arousing interest in tht educational program and as an ex pression of the attitude 01 Lauren county in this big forward step, ar educational rally was held here yes . I terday &>t the county court house * The meeting was a success in ever\ respect, being attended by the dis 1 trict trustees, teachers and the min isters of the county, these being es pecially invited to attend the rail} which was held under the auspices oj the federated clubs of this city^ The crux of the meeting yester Ltiay may be summed up from the tenor and tone of the following res folution which was adopted unani mously^ That South Carolina is abl< to give, and should give, to even child <a seven months' term in school That the members of the genera assembly of South Carolina shouk work and vote for an appropriatioi to carry out the law. Thot the legislature should make provision for coal and otner inciden tals and that we assembled are will ing to pay the additional taxes inci dent to the carrying out of the pro igiam. v The meeting yesterday was presided over by Mrs. J. S. Bennett president of the Laurens Civic league. The purpose of the meetins was stated by James H. Sullivan, former county superintendent of education, now postmaster at Laurens. Then followed a full and comprehensive statement of the practical application of the state school laws to Laurens county by Ralph T. Wilson, county superintendent of education. ' By invitation, Col. E. H. Aull, H ccuntv superintendent of education of Newberry county, was present and he discussed in an informal manner the question of relieving the K situation regarding school deficits.
