Shealy of the Little Mountain section brought us on Saturdy a nine pound turnip, the largest we have even seen. And it was good and sound all the way through and the flavor fine. Mr. Shealy says we promised to come down and take dinner with him some Sunday when we were to make a speech at a colored church in that section but as we had not come ha would bring a turnip. Well, if we ever keep that appointment to make theN speech we will surely come by, Mr. Shealy, and take the dinner too, and we will not make the speech unless some of the good white people of the community go along to heat it. We thank Mr. Shealy for the turHome Demonstration Notes The proceeds from the community market on Saturday were $71.12. A quantity of splendid fresh vegetables and dressed fowls were on hand and disappeared with surprising rapidity. The home demonstration agent C- Vnic + r\ m11 t r> Y> iOlitO V.V-T vc.il WVWVliUUii WV V. ^ V that the market has some rules and regulations that salesmen are requested to follow. A party selling on Saturday did not follow these regulations and left without paying his commission. Let it be understood plainly that these commissions go to the upkeep of the market, paper bags, string, carpentering, etc. How many of us have thought about getting up some little cooperative proposition in our neighborhood? There were at least thirty dozen t^gs in Newberry on Saturday that could not be sold at any price. Why not s! -p these eggs? If sufficient number of poultry raisers will cooperate in supplying1 eggs on certain days the home demonstration agent will make an effort to dispose of them in bulk. A Question i i i_i_ u i . "Jriy DOV, u:t* iimi-ster, uu you know the meaning of energy and enterprise?" "Xo, sir,'' answered Freddy. "Weil, I'll tell you.
