Foundation.

An organization for the Woodrow
Wilson foundation in South Carolina
was partially completed yesterday
with the acceptance by Governor
Cooper of the state chairmanship, following
a conference with Dr. Clarence
J. Owens, Southern director for the
foundation.
') Dr. Owens spent the entire day in
conference with several leaders in the
state and last night announced that

chairmanship and would begin at once
to set up an organization in each of
the 46 counties. Dr. Owens also announced
that Fitz Hugh McMaster
. , had accepted the secretaryship.

of the educational committee and Dr.
C. E. Burts of Colur ibia accepted the
chairmanship of the clergy of the

Large Committee to Work

1 An executive committee of 20 is to
be chosen to handle the foundation
drive of Columbia being chosen as the
firet member. He accepted yesterday
ajid the other members are to be appointed
later. .
v Dr. -Owens, who is Southern director
for the foundation with 16 states
in his charge, said last night that the
foundation for a complete state organization
had been ma-de with the
selection of the head officers yesterday.
Organizations are to be perfected
in all the 16 states.
" The Woodrow Wilson foundation
expects to raise a fund of approximately
$1,500,000 throughout the
country and this Sum will be placed
as a trust so that the interest can be
used for four awards annually for the
