When it comes to arranging show; windows to attract attention the best i; way it must be mentioned that Jno. . B. Mayes is not a new hand at the,; business. It takes but a glance at his ; work to show that he is an artist in ' 1 that line at all seasons of the year, ii While some people have to work'] hard and keep at it for a living, oth-p ers have time to lean against the j lamp post< looking for the globes to'] appear in the white way. and some ! men don't seem to have anything else 1 to do except to stand and grin at girls .i as they pass by. But are they happy? j; We don't believe so. Prolonged and j habitual idleness and happiness can j < not go together. It takes work, with j contentment, to bring happiness. His-J; torv proves that the idle rich are un-( i c aga??o??aa????5 i c?cam i??? lappy. The happiest men are they j < ,vho occupy their time with daily j < .vork and go to their homes with love h ind contentment. I The approaching State fair is now;<) occupying- the minds of many people.!1' We hope you will enjoy it. Those who < ?an not attend ought to wish enjoy- < nent to those who can. People who never have a chance to j ^et out of town on visits can take it J DUt in visiting the picture shows. If I :hey are not able to go anywhere else ' they ought to be glad they are able to ro to the opera house. That is a < pretty good substitute. It costs less 11 ind is often more satisfactory in the ; long run. Every man having* a hard time' thinks he is having a harder time ! than any one else. Still he wouldn't I? swap places with the other fellow. It'j would be well to remember that some-: one else is having it harder. But c some people really do not know what 11 : i hard times are. IJ Tom Mix drew the biggest crowd' to the opei'a house Monday night that! has been there in some time. Tom is a drawer of crowds. Speaking of I . picture shows, go Saturday night and j laugh with Larry Semon in his com- i edy and forget your troubles. Some people in this city, perhaps'' as in all cities, do love to talk. There' J was a persistent rumor during last j week that a certain prominent- youngi. man had married. The rumor would j not down.
