Lover," which comes to the opera j
house Fridav, is of unusual interest;

JYank Lloyd took this exacting task
upon himself when he made "The
Great Lover," and achieved more than |
satisfactory results.
The story centers about Jean Pau-j

Sainpolis, and the principal charac-!
tfers of the play are operatic singers.;
fhe plot is woven around the life of |
thefee people in their work, and the j
crisis occurs during the first and sec- j
ond acts of the opera, "Don Giovan-|
\ si," between the three who form the i
eternal triangle.

hearing: "Don Giovanni" has direct;
^bearing on the story. Therefore, Di
rector Lloyd not only had his cast and j
nearly 1,000 "extras" to direct in the j

at tlie same time to direct his princi-j
pals in the histrionic mannerisms of
the operatic stage and the action of;
tfce opera according to custom.
The operatic singer depends upon J
his voice to "get over" the story, and j
the moving picture actor depends on
everything but his voice, so the basis!
uj?on these two classes of theatrical,
folk work is almost radically different.!
