MOONLIGHT PICNIC FOR
MISS MARGARET DAVIS
Edgefreld Chronicle, 2nd.
The last two weeks of school work
was made memorable for the congenial
faculty of the Edgefield graded
and high school by a series of happy
functions, beginning with a most delightfully
arranged moonlight picnic,
given by Misses Elizabeth and June
Rainsford in honor of their charming
house guest, Miss Margaret Davis of
Newberry, in which the co-workers of
the two gifted young hostesses were
included.
The next affair was most enjoyable,
being given by Miss Katherine Mims
at the beautiful home cf her sister,
Mrs. P. B. Day at Trenton. After
the games which had been arranged
were concluded, refreshments were
served in two elaborate courses.
The next gathering was a banquet
at the modern Dixie Highway hotel
at which the faculty threw away dull
care and made merry the flying hours.
The climax came in the dinner party
given by the principal, Mr. C. F.
Brooks, in honor of his splendid corps
of teachers. A number of surprises
were arrange * fo :he host in the nature
of telegrams, toasts and parting
gifts his co-workers, who regret
that he resigned as principal of our
school, for his thoughtful cooperation
has aided each teacher in .the performance
of duties. Miss June Rainsford
gave a toast to the member of
the faculty who is deserting the ranks
at an early date for Hymen's altar,
to which Miss Katherine Minis gave
a witty response in the form of a
toast to the spinsters. The elaborate
dinner party, with its sparkling humor
and wit/y repartee, was a brilliant
climax to the series of parties whicn
marked the close of the congenial
companionship of this efficient faculty.
