PROVE PLEASING
Former Secretary of Treasury Takes
Issue With. Successor in
Office.

Washington, Dec. 21.?A statement
printed today over the signa
ture of W. G. McAdoo in which the
former secretary of the treasury
takes direct issue with the present
secretary, and the governor of the
federal reserve system regarding the
reyiyal of the war finance corporation,
and the extending of credit to
farmers,, filled Southern members of
congress with calm and rich content.
While treasury officials intimate
that Mr. McAdoo would not be. so
liberal were he' charged with the. responsibility
of government, congress
rejoices that the man with sucli a
hold on the country, coincides conclusively
with it s withs. * As to
whether or not the position of Mr.
McAdoo will influence the president
in approving dr vetoing recent "farm
hejp" legislation, is problematical.
The gist of the McAdoo statement,
which so delighted Southerners in
congress, follows:
