years. For the sweetness and helpfulness
of her little life she will be
sadly missed, but the sunshine she
ever brought to those who loved her

Last Thursday the little form was!
sweetly laid to rest among loved j
ones. As we left that litlte grave,

Dr. Hayne says this is part of the >
statute law of the state, but if it is ]
not really in the statute the state
board of health is permitted to pro- ?
mulgate certain rules and regula- \
tions. and bv act of the legislature i
these are given the same force and 2
effect as the statute itself. There is ^
no question about the fact that the
law requires that all school children j.
shall be vaccinated, and the law ap- ^
plies to all the children, those in the
rural schools as well as those in the
town and city schools. The parent
may have his family physician to do j
the vaccinating, but there must be j
vaccination. And this applies to the!
teachers as well as the children. i*
I can not see how any one would,

Paying the Teachers.
The report seems to have got cur
ent that we were not paying tfle
alaries of the teachers. That is erone'ous.
We did about a week ago
told up payment for about a week,

hat they would be approved and paid

Colored Teachers.
On Saturday I made a brief talk
to the colored teachers at their meeting
in the Hoge school house. There
was a good attendance and the interest
in and attention to what I had to
say was fine. I tried to tell them
what I thought was best for them
and the children they are to teach,
and to make what I had to say so
plain that any one could understand.
I have always believed that we
should treat the negro right and give
him at least justice. This much I am
sroing to do so far as I may be able
in dealing with the colored schools. .
Because I believe that it is right.

The Long Lane teachers and children
will put on a play at this school
Friday evening and they do say that
it is worth your while to see this
play, that these amateurs are really
in the acting as fine as old stagers.
Certainly it will' be a good play and
you will enjoy the evening if you go..
