' ll^ilil?<??MM U I TWO BOYS WANDERING FAR AWAY FROM HOME | Two white boys were taken up here Saturday by the sheriff and his deputies because they seemed to be too young to be wa'ndcring about, over the eountry without protection. ! The officers were notified early in the morning that two boys slept the night before just outside the city limits, having only crocus sacks for cover? ing. The officers went out to see about them, and found them about half way between Newberry and Prosperity, walking along the road. As the officers got near them in their j car, the boys seeming quite exhaust-j ed, asked for a ride. The officers! told them to get in; that they had come for them, and would take them to Newberry. ' The eyes of the boys ; filled with tfcars^ not from fear or{ regret, but because it meant that j their wanderings were over, and thcyi would be sent back home. They were evidently tired of thc^r escapades. ' The boys, who seem to be about 16 * years of age, gave their names as Claire Bigsby and Kenneth Hes-cll of Royal Oak, Mich., a suburb of Detroit. They said they came out of. Detroit about ten days ago with a j man who was bringing a car south-! ward; that whcnOie got to his desti^j nation?which was in Tennessee orj Virginia or North Carolina?they! continued on their way walking,' their destination being 3fc? Peters-j burg, Fla. The sheriff took the boys, to his home at the jail, got them; clean underclothing?their outer j clothing was good and clean?and' put them in the boy's detention j room, where thpy were perfectly] rnntrrt. and wired to th?ir parents. The beys have cvi-' ? dently had good rearing and comfort-; * able homes, and are bright young feM lows, probably high school students . in their home town.
