A type which will sooib be one of, the long gone past, that of the convivial gentleman, plays no small part in "Oh, By Jingo," the sixth New York Princess theatre musical comedy success, which will be at the opera house Tuesday, November 9. Mr. M. Marx presents this charming and unusual production. The bibulous gentleman is none other than "Broadway Willie" Burbank, who appears at Dr. Rockett's 'sanitarium for comfort and cure. All j of which would have been a not unusual incident at the sanitarium had not Bruce Allenby, aviator,- and his humorous mechanician, the latter fleeing from the police' after an assault, appeared about the same time; I _ m t Lwith Mrs. Burbank, several cnorus girls and the police right on the trail of the others. With a few incidental complications, it is easy to see that there is no lack of intensely funny plot to the latest Marx success, and humorous situations follow one another like a flock of swallows through the two acts. Here Lew Rose, who wrote the J book and lyrics, is to be seen at his ;best, as is Lew Wagner, composer 01 J a score of delightful melodies which I flow so evenly through the piece. | The superlatively high standard j which Mr. Marx has set in all of his I New York Princess theatre productions is maintained in this, which was staged by Lew Rose. It abounds in catchy music, and pretty girls, daint, ily arrayed in smart Parisian gowns. jit would not seem that a sanitarium could be a place delightful to gaze upon, but "Oh, By Jingo," proves the contrary, for not only is the scenery beautiful but the lighting effects are novel, and delight the eye.
