Smih. Dr. James Bell of Arkansas, a nephew of Capt M. M. Buford, who was on a visit to relatives in Newberry last week,?died in Tennessee Wednesday on his way home. Mrs. J. L. Fellers and little daughter, Winifred, will leave Friday for her home in Ludowici, Ga., after an extended visit to her mother, Mrs. ? Minnie Koon. ; . Mr. Thomas L. Cromer returned with his mother, Mrs. Jeff T. Cromer, on Sunday from the Columbia hospital, where the latter had been undergoing treatment. Mrs. -J. K. Dr. George B. Cromer is a member of the committee appointed to decide ? as to whether or not there should be organized an exporting corporation to handle the sale of cotton abroad. The committee met in Columbia and decided to proceed at once with the organization. Dr. George K., Hiftchinson and his brother, J. Thomas Hutchinson, spent several days, last week at their former home in Newberry. I It is hoped that a large number of young men will be at the meeting in ' the court house at 8 o'clock on Friday night to hear Adjutant General Moore and join in the movement for a Newberry company in the national guard of South Carolina. At the meeting in Prosperity on Monday of ttie board of directors of the lNewberry Alliance Warehouse . company the stockholders unanimously agreed to sell the warehouse to the Farmers' Cooperative association of the county, the price being $2,000. Sheriff Blease and his deputies and extras and Mayor Blease and Chief Rodelsperger and the regular and extra force handled the big crowds admirably on circus day. That . ended it for the time being. REMAINS OF SOLDIER BOY AT REST IN SHADY GROVE ___ \ After a long delay the body of Private George W. Hairston at last reached Newberry and have been laid to rest in the cemetery at Shady Grove. The body had been expected for some time. Upon its arrival it was conveyed to Baxter's undertakers establishment, the following members of the American Legion acting as pallbearers: W. R. Reid, Jr., Neely J. Cromer, B. V.
