Senator Edge, Republican, New

any cases of speakers seeking work
from both major parties. The witness
produced correspondence with
Prof. John 0. Hall, formerly of Willamette
university, Salem, Ore.,
t which he said furnished an example
of that practice.

Calling the Attention of the Women
to Matter of Securing Registration
Tickets and Men Also.
The following resolutions were offered
by Mr. E. S. Blease at the
meeting of the executive committee
on Thursday and unanimously
adoptd. The matter of opening the'
books for the proper registration of
the voters is called to the attention
of the registration board and it is expected
that arrangements will be
made by the board for the full registration
of all the voters of the
county. The books will have to be
closed at the end of this .month as
law requires that they shall be closed
30 days before a general election.
If you have no registration ticket get
one at Once. We suppose that the
board will keep open the books longer
than the few days they are required
to keep them open and that
they will give notice to that enect.

Nashville, Aug. 31.?The Tennessee
house of representatives, with a
quorum present for the first time
since August 20, expunged from its
journal this afternoon all record of
ratification of the suffrage amendment
and voted, 47 to 24, with 20 not
i voting, to non-concur in the action of
; the senate in ratifying. Shortly
after the house convened it
I became evident that the anti-ratifi|

the suffrage members to arrive in
time. With clock like program, the

i plan of attempting to undo what was
done on August 21, when ratification
was accomplished.
Carried by 47 to 37.
; The first step was the motion to
j expunge from the journal of that day
' all reference to the proceedings upon
! the suffrage ratification resolution.
After this was accomplished, 47 to
I 37, with 16 not voting, motion was,
; made and carried that a certified

| copy of the resolution, the original
j of which is in the hands of the seni
ate, be spread upon the journal.
Representative Riddick, floor
\ leader of the ratificationists, made
the point of order that the resolution
I was out of the hands of the house ^ .
and now a part of the federal consti'
. - ,y.:
; tution through proclamation of Secretary
of State Colby. He was overruled
by Speaker Walker.
The house by a viva voce vote then
adopted a motion to reconsider its
