THE BANQUET-BARBECUE BY SPANISH-AMERICAN VET A Good Turn Out of Survivors at th Enjoyable Occasion?The Absence cf Capt. Langfortl and Lieut. Stewart Regretted. We came direct from th "banquet hall"' (Mr. Mike Counts barbecue ground) loaded with goo intentions and hasn ana tnings, ou the foreman of the shop said "no another line of copy must be hande in," and as the foreman's word goe at such times there was "nothing dc ing/' If you read Friday's paper?and o course you did?*you remember tha surviving members of Co. B, Firs South Carolina infantry, of th Spanish-American war, gave a barbe cue on Thursday afternoon unde Mr. J. M. Counts' shed. The com ljittee?W. W. Farrow, P. D. John son and T. G. It being strictly a gathering oi ex-soldiers of the Spanish-Americai war from this territory, there were no invited guests around the boarc other than Dr. E. C. Jones, represent ing his son George, a deceased mem ber of the company; Mr. G. B. Summer, representing his nephew, Johr M. Kinard, who died in camp; Col E. H. Aull, the guest of honor; Mr Eiller and the reporter, "war cor|2 spondent in time of peace." You have already been told hov firood the barbecue was, cooked ir Mr. Counts' best style. We mgst ad< that ladies and girls waited on th< table, which gave the mutton, pork etc., a better taste. They even ha< ice cream and cake for "the here after." Mr. Farrow was master o: v ceremonies and Dr. Jones said grac< in an impressive manner. Aull, the orator o' the day. Chairman Farrow said t few pleasant and bright words as t< how glad they all were to be togeth er on this occasion, and how we al had enjoyed the fine spread. Col Aull'i remarks were received with heart? applause. At the conclusion of Col. AulP talk, Mr. Farrow read a letter fron W. S. Langford, former captain o the company, and a telegram fron Thos. O. Stewart, former lieutenant both of whom sent words of regre at their unavoidable absence, am greetings- to their old comrades Capt.
