CONTINUATION OF HIGH SCHOOL COMMENCEMENT Great Times at the "Newberry High" With the Bright Minded and Musically Talented Pupils Instructed by Miss Margaret Burton. In Tuesday's issue of The Herald and News we gave an account of the music recital 01 me grammar giuucj of the high school on Fi'iday night On Monday night there was another excellent program, the occasion being the piano recital of the high school department, assisted by the glee club, which club is composed ol the following members: Irwin Leaveil, Harry Epting, Everett Hipp Clark Floyd, Cortez Sanders, B. F Tompkins, Aubrey Tilley and Altor Freeman, the singing adding much to the enjoyment of the occasion. Class Day Exercises. On Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock an interested assemblage gathered in the auditorium of the high school building to witness the class day exercises by the eleventh grade, the <rrftdnates of the school. The stage was beautifully decorated, the arrangement of the decorations showing off the class flower, the daisy, and the colors?gold and white?-to perfection; the class officers being: Miss Mary Frances Jones, president; Miss Fredna Schumpert, treasurer; Aubrey Tilley, secretary. The class contained four young ladies?Misses Laura Folger, Mary Frances Jones, Fredna Schumpert and Mary Alice Suber?and three. young men, Messrs. Harry Epting, Clark pioyd and Aubrey Tilley. G.", Edward Epting; "Where, Oh Where," (song) school. All of it was good, from the happy WAi/,rtrrio v,v class president, llttlC VY V/1V/V414V' V ^ ? Miss Frances Jones, to the captivatfing song by entire school. We can't single one out of the fine program, but must only say 3iKat the class history, the class song, the class prophecy, the class poem, the class will with "P. G." thrown in for good measure, were all of the highest order. MOTORIZE THE FARM TRUCK TOUR WILL VISIT NEWBERRY The Columbia Automobile Trade* association farm truck tour will visit Prospertiy and Newberry, according to information received here this week by the advance committee whc were in Newberry. The caravan will consist of about 20 trucks of different sizes and makes and are due to arrive in Prosperity at 3:30 p. m., June 15th, working there till dark and coming here for the night, exhibiting a motion picture of trucks doing farm wnrlc all over the country at 8 p. m, Monday night. The trucks will be parked on Caldwell street on the square during the night and will be lighted up by a modern farm lighting system. Tuesday morning Mayor Eugene S. Blease will deliver an address oi welcome to the visitors and the loca committee, consisting of Messrs. C T. Summer, W. W. Cromer, S. S Cunningham, J. W. Smith, Jr., anc G. B. Summer, will report to th( truck men the work arranged for the trucks to do on the differqiit farms injhis section. Graham, one of th< country's foremost farm economii experts will address the gatherings a each stop. All of the trucks will be equippe< with pneumatic tire which will en able them to haul anywhere a hors< and wagon will go and they intern to haul wheat, oats and other farn products over the fields and do othe: off road hauling. Any farmer wishing the trucks t( do any hauling will please repor same to any members of the abov< committee and a truck will be sen1 out to uo the work at no cost what ever. There will be no sales solicited or this tour as it is a purely educational tour and no one will be under obligation by having the trucks haul foi them. On leaving Newberry Tuesday June 15, at 10:30 the trucks wil visit Kinards where the band wil give a concert and Prof. Graham wil! talk but no demonstration will b? made.
